‘Psycho acoustic soul’ zegt Mahalia te maken. Het dekt de lading best goed. De warme stem van de zangeres uit Leicester valt op, de nummers nog meer. Liedjes recht uit het hart, herkenbaar en toch nieuw. Fragiel en catchy. Beats, pop en folk vormen op haar nieuwe album Diary Of Me een hitgevoelig mengsel. ‘A collection of music that really tells the story of my journey that I’ve been on. Almost like a diary of the past four years’, aldus Mahalia. Niet de minsten hielpen haar hierbij. Supa Dups (John Legend, Mary J Blige), 1985 (Drake, Nicki Minaj) en Steve Fitzmaurice (Sam Smith, Aloe Blacc) produceerden het album.
